About GolfLists.com

GolfLists.com is run by a small team and a growing community of ‘Ambassadors’ who fill the site with their local golf insights. We launched as a passion project with a simple aim: to become the place where golf club members connect and share local knowledge.

Why did we build GolfLists?

GolfLists.com was built because planning golf trips meant opening 20+ different golf websites. We wanted a tool where all the information—green fees, locations, contact details—could be compared in one place. Many golfers like tracking where they have played; GolfLists brings that together with the ability to discover top courses, connect with other club members for reciprocal games, and make playing great courses both more affordable and more fun.

With that as context, the purpose of GolfLists is to become the place:

"Where golf club members connect and share local knowledge."

If we succeed, it will become the first place you go for your golf information, unique golf travel planning tools, and a place where you connect with like-minded golf club members who want to help each other out.

Why is GolfLists needed in 2024?

Let's face it, Trump Turnberry is now £595 for a peak summer green fee. In 2021 peak season it was around £325; it has nearly doubled in three years. That's a year's membership at some courses. Green fee prices are now so expensive that hoping to play top 100 lists by paying one hundred summer green fees is the reserve of the Top 1% of UK income earners.

This is not a dig at those clubs setting the prices. Members’ clubs, understandably, would rather have more revenue and less traffic because this is the best deal for their members. No, it is not a dig, but merely an observation about the facts regarding the cost of elite golf.

How can GolfLists help?

One way GolfLists can help is by facilitating connection between British and Irish golf club members. Another is by highlighting the most cost-effective ways to play the best courses. But another way is by opening the eyes of traveling golfers to lists beyond the various top 100s that are equally adventurous, perhaps more rewarding, and definitely cheaper! That might be a list of Harry Colt’s courses; it might be playing all the courses in your county; it might be playing all the courses in our ‘Quirky’ collection. GolfLists is designed to allow you to filter information in ways that allow you to make your own ‘lists’ to chase.

Want to help develop GolfLists from the ground up?

You won't find corporate polish here, and you might find the odd typo or mistake! But if you like the idea of getting involved in a grassroots project from the ground up, please do feel free to get in touch. Encouragement alone is most welcome, and we are always looking for keen 'Ambassadors' to help populate the golf course information on the site to make it more useful for travelling golfers. We have had some amazing offers of help and feedback already and are very grateful for the support!
