Charles Lawrie

Charles Dundas Lawrie (1923–1976) was a Scottish amateur golfer, administrator, and golf course architect, described as "one of golf architecture's finest representatives." In 1954 he partnered with C.K. Cotton and Frank Pennink to form Cotton, Pennink and Partners Ltd; Donald Steel later joined. The partnership worked on St Pierre, Ross-on-Wye, and numerous designs in the 1950s and 1960s. Lawrie served as non-playing captain of the Great Britain Walker Cup team in 1961. Cotton was a pupil of Tom Simpson; Pennink had won the English Amateur twice and played in the winning 1938 Walker Cup team.
