Charles MacKenzie
Charles Atkinson MacKenzie (1876–1944) was the brother of Alister MacKenzie. While Alister became a surgeon and architect, Charles pursued a military career in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps. Between 1908 and 1914 he formed a landscape construction company with James Nicholson, working on tennis courts, bowling greens, and golf courses—including projects with Alister. In 1923 Charles and Alister formed the British Golf Course Construction Company; Charles handled construction detail while Alister focused on design. The company built 30–40 courses by 1925. Charles assisted with redesign and construction at Pebble Beach and other California courses.
