David Williams

David Williams is a British golf course architect whose philosophy centres on laying courses "gently on the landscape" with minimal earthmoving. He holds degrees in Architecture from Bath and was elected the first President of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects in 2000. Williams designs "acceptable, effective and economical solutions" that minimise environmental impact. His Kingfisher Course at Manning's Heath was explicitly designed as a traditional British layout "laid gently on the landscape" with no water hazards. He has designed over 30 new 18-hole courses and been involved in 200+ projects, including consultancy for PGA Catalunya (Camiral Golf Resort), host of the 2031 Ryder Cup.
