Howard Swan

Howard Swan is a British golf course architect whose strategic philosophy "favours the brave" by offering risk-reward options through each hole. He contrasts this with penal design (punishing every errant shot) and heroic design (American "all or nothing"). Swan Golf Designs, which he leads with William Swan, has over sixty years of experience. The firm's philosophy is based on "a love of golf and appreciation of the natural landscape." Swan has designed and renovated courses throughout the UK and Europe.
