John Hamilton Stutt
John Hamilton Stutt (1924–2008), known as 'Hamish', was a Scottish golf course architect educated at Glasgow Academy and St Andrews. His father John R. Stutt worked with James Braid; Stutt accompanied him to construction sites as a boy. He was a founding member of BAGCA in 1971 with C.K. Cotton and Fred W. Hawtree. After RAF service in WWII he entered the family construction business, working with Mackenzie Ross and John Morrison. Stutt designed the Brabazon and Derby at The Belfry, renovated Turnberry's Ailsa (with Mackenzie Ross), and worked on St Mellion Old, Meon Valley, and Woodbury Park. He served as BAGCA Chairman (1975) and President (1980).
