Patrick Merrigan

Patrick Merrigan (1942–2016) was an Irish golf course architect. An agricultural science graduate from UCD, he worked as a soil scientist and lecturer before serving as project manager for Waterville's restoration under Eddie Hackett—work that launched his career. His acclaimed designs include Old Head Golf Links (with Joe Carr), Slieve Russell, Tuilfarris House, Woodenbridge (redesigned 1994), and Castle Dargan (with Darren Clarke). He redesigned Elm Park, Delgany, Greystones, and Sutton. Merrigan was a Senior Member of EIGCA until retirement in 2012.
