Peter McEvoy

Peter McEvoy OBE (1953–2025) was a British amateur golfer, Walker Cup captain, and golf course architect. He won The Amateur Championship twice (1977–78), represented GB&I in five Walker Cups and five Eisenhower Trophy teams, and became the first British amateur to make the Masters cut in 1978. As Walker Cup captain (1999, 2001), he led GB&I to successive victories—the first consecutive wins. He captained the victorious Eisenhower team in 1998. McEvoy worked on course redesigns with collaborators including Craig Cooke and Christy O'Connor Jr., at venues such as Beaverstown, Rathsallagh, and Horsley Lodge, creating distinctive, challenging green complexes.
