Tom Craddock
Tom Craddock (1931–1998) was an Irish amateur golfer and golf course architect born in Malahide, County Dublin. He represented Ireland in the Walker Cup twice, was honoured 67 times in the Home Internationals, and played in the European Team Championship on 22 occasions, winning all major amateur awards. His brothers Paddy, Mick and Joe were synonymous with golf in Ireland. Craddock co-designed St Margaret's with Pat Ruddy—of which he was captain until his death—and collaborated on Druids Glen, Ballyliffin, and many other courses. His designs are renowned for their toughness, character and sheer beauty. In March 1998 he received the Forte Posthouses Legends in Sports Award with Joe Carr and David Sheehan. Described as "a master weaver" of Irish sport's tapestry, Craddock was known for his humility and devotion to family.
