Tom Dunn

Tom Dunn (1849–1902) was a Scottish golfer, clubmaker, and prolific golf course architect. Born in Musselburgh, he learned golf and club manufacture from his father Willie Dunn Sr. Dunn extended Wimbledon to 18 holes in 1871 and designed courses including Bath, Broadstone, and Bude & North Cornwall. He played a key role developing courses from coastal links into inland heathland, notably around London. Dunn had four top-10 finishes in The Open, with his best result sixth in 1868. He competed through 1886, never finishing outside the top twenty. Though less celebrated than Old Tom Morris, Dunn created many functional layouts.
