About: Abernethy Golf Club

Abernethy Golf Club is a members' golf club, in North Scotland. The club was first formed in 1893.

Situated in the charming village of Nethy Bridge, Abernethy Golf Club rests in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, nestled between Aviemore and Grantown-on-Spey along the B970.

Abernethy offers a classic Highland golfing experience. The course, built on natural moorland and surrounded by towering pine trees, is rich with diverse flora and fauna.

As a 9-hole course, it’s perfect for beginners or those seeking a quick round when time is tight. However, it remains a true test of skill for any golfer, as it’s

"blessed with three incredibly difficult holes" - Golf Monthly

From the club secretary:

"Our main feature is that our 8th hole plays over a hill on which a war memorial to the two World Wars is situated. It’s the only golf course we know of with such a unique feature. Initially, players might feel uneasy if they strike the memorial, but eventually, they understand it’s bound to happen at some point. The granite is impervious to golf balls! In fact, someone once managed to lodge their ball in the cross. A fuller story is on our website under 'History.'"
