Airdrie Golf Club

The Airdrie Golf Club course was established on June 14, 1877, at Drumbathie Farm, with the original layout featuring six holes. A lease issue in April 1878 necessitated a move to the old Race Course on Drumbathie Road, where the course resumed with six holes but faced disruption from local livestock and other hazards.

After recurrent lease difficulties, the course was relocated in 1893 to Meadowfield at Rochsoles, rooted in a lease from Colonel Gerard. The game's growing standards by 1899 led to the construction of an additional field at Roughcraig Park which served as part of the course until 1908.

Expansion of the course continued with the rental of Mill Park in 1908, and by a special general meeting approval on January 26, 1922, the course became an 18-hole golf course. It incorporated leased lands from Rochsoles Estate, including the Stubble Parks and featured notable holes such as the present 8th through 13th.

In 1937, renowned course designer James Braid was consulted for the course extension, with his revised layout opening in May 1939. This layout remains largely as it is today, with the course having gone through various improvements over the decades, including the addition of a new clubhouse in 1927.

The Airdrie Golf Club purchased their course in 1953 due to the dissolution of Rochsoles Estate, securing the course's future for subsequent generations. The historical development of the course narrates the story of strategic relocations, expansions, and continuous improvements to cater to the ever-growing golf community.
