Alderley Edge Golf Club

Alderly Edge Golf Club's current site was originally host to members of the Wilmslow Golf Club, established in 1889. It was originally played on a dual-season layout, with 18 holes available in winter and only 9 in summer.

The late 18th-century Stockton Farm was known for its infamous occupant, Dick Stockton, a farmer turned highwayman who was executed in 1791. In 1928, the club considered expanding to 18 holes, commissioning renowned architect James Braid for preliminary designs, though the ambitious project was never realized.

Braid's proposal, funded by ex-Captain Mr. Tom Thorniley, included new holes on Stockton Farm with the farmhouse as a clubhouse. While Alderly Edge is now know to be a wealth enclave housing footballers and celebrities, at the time of Braid's visit his plan was abandoned due to financial constraints and concerns about the feasibility of constructing holes on terrain with poor drainage.

The course has evolved into a good parkland layout over the years, with an tight-knit membership.

Winter rates (Nov 1 - Mar 31) are £28 on weekdays and £35 on weekends for 18 holes. Summer rates (Apr 1 - Oct 31) are £42 on weekdays and £48 on weekends for 18 holes.

A member guest rate is also available. You can book online to receive a 5% discount on visitor green fees.
