Alnmouth Golf Club

The golf course at Alnmouth was established in 1869, with the course's design attributed to Mungo Park, who became the club's first professional. The first recorded competition on the course, the Percy Medal, was won by Captain Arthur Walker on October 19, 1869, with a score of 81 over 18 holes.

By 1881, the Alnmouth course had hosted a professional tournament offering £27 in prize money, a considerable sum at that time. Notable among the competitors were members of the Park family, with M. Park placing fourth.

In the 1920s, the Duke of Northumberland leased additional land for the creation of a new 18-hole course designed by golf architect H.S. Colt. The new course, which incorporated Foxton Hall as its clubhouse, opened on May 9, 1931, but was overshadowed by the passing of the 8th Duke of Northumberland later that year.

Alnmouth Village Golf Club took over the original 9-hole links in 1936, while the newer 18-hole course remained with Alnmouth Golf Club. Both clubs have preserved their historical connection, culminating in the special 'upper and downer' competition which combines both courses for the event.

Visitors can book tee times up to ten days in advance online or by calling the Pro Shop. Summer rates are valid from 1st Apr 2025 to 31st Oct 2025. Winter rates apply from 1st Nov 2024 to 31st March 2025.

Twilight tee times vary depending on the month: April-August from 3pm onwards, September from 2pm onwards, and October from 1pm onwards.
