Ardeer Golf Club

Ardeer Golf Club was established in 1880 with the original course being a 9-hole layout in the Sandyhills area of Stevenston. After the original course ceased to exist, the club relocated to the Ardeer area in Stevenston and opened a new seaside links course on April 8th, 1905, occupying land owned by the Imperial Chemicals Industries Ltd (ICI).

The Ardeer course has seen several changes over its history, including the loss of holes during the Second World War and a major relocation in the early 1960s due to ICI repurposing the land. The relocated course, which utilized the original saved greens, was designed by Stutt and opened as a 9-hole course in 1965, with an extension to 18 holes following shortly.

Throughout its history, the course has had features such as a mix of mature and young trees bordering the fairways, as well as two burns that weave through the course. Recent improvements have been made which allow for golf to be played throughout the year.

Continuous enhancements to the course, including updates to the teeing areas and greens, contribute to the ongoing development of the golf course, which has been shaped by the efforts of both the members and greens staff.
