Ashburnham Golf Club is a members' golf club, in West Wales. The club was first formed in 1894.
Ashburnham Golf Course was established in 1894 and takes its name from the 5th Earl of Ashburnham, who was the club's inaugural President. The course, designed by J.H. Taylor in 1910, measures 6,910 yards and has remained largely unchanged since its early 20th-century alterations.
The Ashburnham course is known for its demanding links style, characterized by playing the front nine into the prevailing westerly wind and a tougher back nine that is usually wind assisted. Notable features include a challenging opener, a par three first hole, and an eighteenth hole with an elevated and treacherous green.
Noteworthy events at Ashburnham include Dai Rees's PGA title win in 1959, Bernard Gallacher's Schweppes PGA Championship in 1969, and Sam Torrance's Martini Tournament victory in 1976. The course has also hosted major amateur tournaments like Welsh Amateur Championships since 1904, and various British and Welsh championships.
The course has received praise from prominent figures, such as Harry Vardon who favorably rated it, and has seen the success of multiple Ryder Cup Captains. Today, Ashburnham maintains its reputation as a challenging test for golfers while continuing to host championship events.
