About: Ashridge Golf Club

Ashridge Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Hertfordshire. The club was first formed in 1932.

Ashridge Golf Club was officially opened in 1932 on the estate that was previously an ancient hunting forest for the Brownlow family. The course was designed by Major C K Hutchison, Sir Guy Campbell, and Colonel S V Hotchkin, who aimed to preserve the natural beauty and parkland character of the estate.

The course, notable for its historical surroundings including herds of deer and an old mansion now serving as a Management College, has evolved to measure 6,678 yards with a par of 72. It retains traditional hole names with rich history, such as Witchcraft Bottom and Thunderdell, adding to its distinctive character.

Ashridge Golf Club has a reputation for excellence and has consistently been ranked among the top 100 golf courses in the UK. In the late 1930s, it gained prominence owing to its association with Henry Cotton, a three-time Open Championship winner and former resident Club Professional.

The club has been chosen by the R&A to host an 'Open Championship' Regional Qualifying Competition from 2003 to 2008, and in recent years conducted the R&A Women's Senior Amateur Championship in 2021 and the English Men's Open Seniors Championship in 2022. Its features are deemed to complement both traditional and modern golf architecture.
