Balcarrick Golf Club

Balcarrick Golf Club in Donabate, North County Dublin, was originally founded in 1972 by a collective known as the Homeless Golfers, who aimed to make golf more accessible. The group formed at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and subsequently established the Dublin & County Golf Club which did not own its course, a rarity for affiliated clubs.

The club faced growth-related challenges, leading to difficulties in securing tee times for its members at the original public course. This led to local landowner Jack Collins offering his land to build a new course in 1992, which was designed by Barry Langan and became an 18-hole course in 1995.

The club underwent significant developments, including a redesign by architect Roger Jones completed in 2008 and the purchase of additional land to expand the course. In recent years, Balcarrick Golf Club has adapted to economic changes, waiving entrance fees, lowering costs, and renovating facilities, and now boasts a membership of around 700, including juniors.

Balcarrick Golf Club has a competitive history, with wins in various tournaments such as the Irish Mixed Foursomes in 2003, the O'Grady Cup in 2002, and the All-Ireland Pierce Purcell Shield in 1984. With a commitment to accessibility and continual improvement, the club is an established presence in the North County Dublin golfing community.

Weekday green fees range from €35 to €40 depending on the day. Weekend green fees are €50 after 12:30 PM. Twilight rates are available from 17:00 Monday to Thursday (€25), 17:30 on Friday (€30), and 17:30 on weekends (€35) from May to September.
