Ballater Golf Club

Ballater Golf Course was established in 1892 as a nine-hole course on land owned by the Laird of Invercauld. In 1905, the course expanded to eighteen holes following the acquisition of additional farmland.

An exhibition match featuring James Braid and Harry Vardon marked the opening of a new pavilion and the course extension in August 1906.

The course is located in Upper Deeside and presents an eighteen-hole, medium-length layout with heathland features and parkland characteristics further from the river. Ballater Golf Course provides particularly challenging opening six holes, which include two demanding par threes.

Notable aspects of the golf course include its setting within a circle of hills and views of Lochnagar to the west.

Visitor green fees vary depending on the time of year and residency. During May to September, the green fee is £90 for non-UK residents and £60 for UK residents. Twilight rates (after 1:30 PM) are offered for both April/October (£55 non-UK residents, £40 UK residents) and May-September (£65 non-UK residents, £45 UK residents).
