About: Ballycastle Golf Club

Ballycastle Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Antrim. The club was first formed in 1890.

Ballycastle Golf Club was established in 1890 by a group of twenty-six enthusiasts led by Naval Commander Alfred Malcolm Causton. The course, originally a nine-hole layout, was known as the Warren Links due to the prevalence of rabbit holes.

The course became a founding member of the Golf Union of Ireland in 1891 and by 1906, it was restructured, and fairways were lengthened following a land purchase. It was expanded to eighteen holes in 1926, and this design has remained mostly unchanged.

Ballycastle Golf Course is located in Antrim, Northern Ireland, amidst various natural features such as fast-flowing rivers, hills, and the remnants of an ancient abbey. The club has a history of inclusivity, encouraging women to play from as early as 1897.

The course offers views of the Causeway Coast and on clear days, there is visibility of Rathlin Island and Scotland's Mull of Kintyre. The surrounding environment includes the Donegal Hills to the west and the peaks of the Antrim Glens to the southeast.
