Basingstoke Golf Club

The Basingstoke Golf Course was originally a 9-hole course established on the 6th December 1907 by Charles Lloyd, and located north of Basingstoke station. The course was requisitioned during the Great War and ceased operations, but the club members remained active until securing a new location at Kempshott Park in 1926, leading to the commissioning of James Braid for design and construction.

The course at Kempshott Park was completed in 1928, offering a layout designed to challenge golfers of various skill levels. It was inaugurated by James Braid alongside Harry Vardon and Miss Molly Gourlay.

In 2021, Basingstoke Golf Club relocated to a new site, purchasing Dummer Golf Club and engaging in a significant redevelopment project under the guidance of Bruce Weller and Conor Walsh. This development includes innovative features such as creeping bent greens and rubber crumb bunkers.

Major redevelopment work on the new course began in early August 2022 and was completed within 12 months. The new facility, featuring a modern clubhouse and state-of-the-art driving range, is expected to welcome members to the new layout in Spring 2024.

Visitor green fees are available on a limited basis from September 8th, 2025, as a preview before the full opening in Spring 2026. Tee times are available 7 days in advance, opening on September 1st, 2025.
