Beedles Lake Golf Centre

Beedles Lake Golf Club features an 18-hole course that was established on the 1st of July, 1993. The course was developed from land previously sold to Jelson Ltd in the 1960s for sand and gravel excavation followed by landfill.

David Tucker, a local golf course architect with experience designing courses on Coal Board landfill sites, created the course, incorporating principles of the pay and play ethos. Tucker aimed to make high-standard golf accessible to a broader audience, utilizing his expertise to design a course with ash as the base for the greens, providing good growth and excellent drainage.

The golf course was designed with the intention of being playable year-round, achieving this feature through the innovative use of ash in the construction of the greens that allows play without temporary greens even in winter. Since its opening, the course has hosted approximately 35,000 rounds per year and has approximately 500 members.

Continuous improvements have been made to the course, adding new bunkers, hazards, and re-designed holes to present further challenges to golfers. In May 2014, an additional "Little Owl" par 3 course was introduced to cater to golfers of all skill levels and to support the ethos of making golf accessible to everyone.

The on-site clubhouse, which faces the nearby 38-acre Beedles Lake, has been expanded to meet increased demand, including a new function room seating up to 150 guests. The clubhouse facilities also underwent modernization in 2011 to offer a relaxed and family-friendly environment.
