About: Beeston Fields Golf Club

Beeston Fields Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Nottinghamshire. The club was first formed in 1923.

Beeston Fields Golf Club was established in 1923 when Fred Mitchell transformed a country house and its parkland into the golf course, with Tom Williamson as the designer. The golf course, which features a parkland layout, was inaugurated by Arthur Havers, the Open Champion at the time.

The course has maintained its original parkland design and has been a challenge for several notable golfers, including Henry Cotton and Ted Ray. After nearly half a century of management by Fred Mitchell, and subsequently by his nephew John, the stewardship was passed to John's daughter, Philippa Marshall, in January 2008.

In May 2012, a restoration project commenced in the old Victorian Walled Garden behind the clubhouse, which had been neglected for over 40 years. This restoration has since turned the area into an award-winning wedding venue and provides produce for the club's restaurant and bar.
