Beverley And East Riding Golf Club

The Beverley and East Riding Golf Club was formed in 1889, its history has been documented in a centennial book by J M G Ward, though it is currently out of print.

Notable figures in the club's early history include Lord Londesborough, the club's first president, and Dr. Murdoch Donald MacLeod, the club captain in 1892. Both had significant ties to the local and national history.

The 2nd Earl of Londesborough was a key figure in sporting developments within the area, having been involved in the creation of a nine-hole golf course at Londesborough Park in 1905, designed by Harry Vardon. However, financial and transportation issues led to the course's closure in 1947.
