Bridport And West Dorset Golf Club

Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club's course was originally located on West Cliff for its first 20 years before relocating to East Cliff in 1911. It was expanded to an 18-hole course in 1921 and has experienced several modifications, with the most significant one in 1989 that included the construction of new holes and the clubhouse.

The course features views of the sea, shore, and the highest points in Dorset, including Pilsdon Pen and Lewesdon Hill. Wildlife is prevalent on the course, and players may often hear skylarks singing during their round.

The 6th hole is a notable feature of the course, a 129-yard par 3 with a vertical drop of over 90 feet, which has been recognized as one of the top 100 holes in the world. A distinctive dry-stone wall is integrated into the play on four holes, notably the 371-yard 13th hole where Max Faulkner famously hit the green during an exhibition match in 1952.

Challenges on the course come from variable winds and changing weather conditions, making it a demanding venue for golfers of all skill levels. The golf course also offers scenic views across the Jurassic coastline, a World Heritage Site, and has featured in the ITV drama "Broadchurch."

Visitor green fees are £45.00 on weekdays and £55.00 on weekends.
