Broadstone Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Dorset. The club was first formed in 1898.
The golf course at Broadstone was commissioned by Ivor Bertie Guest, 1st Baron of Wimborne, and designed by Tom Dunn, opening on November 16, 1898. Originally named "The Broadstone Links," it was part of "The Dorset Golf Club," admitting 150 members initially, each paying an entrance fee of two guineas and an annual subscription of the same amount.
Notable golf professionals such as JH Taylor and James Braid played in the opening match, with Harry Shapland Colt re-designing the course into a heathland layout between 1914 and 1922. Several modifications have occurred since, including the addition of a lake in front of the 3rd green in 1988, and the extension of the 9th and 10th holes in 1992 and 2006 respectively.
Throughout its history, the course has seen changes in ownership, with the most significant transfer occurring in 1971 when the members purchased the course from Ellen Toley for £18,000. In 1984/1985, the construction of the current clubhouse was completed, replacing the original building that dated back to 1899.
The course's land has been recognized for its environmental value, with a significant part designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and later as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) in 2005 due to its heathland and habitat. These statuses reflect the ecological importance of Broadstone's golf course environment.
Broadstone Golf Club welcomes visitors. Green fees vary depending on the season and day of the week. Summer rates (June-September) are higher, with midweek rates at £155 and weekend rates at £180.
Winter midweek rates (December-January) are lower, starting from £85. County cards are permitted during summertime on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for £90.
