Bromsgrove Golf Centre

Bromsgrove Golf Centre has its origins as a 9-hole course established in the early 20th century, being played first in 1904 until 1912 at the site of the present Club, then known as Slideslow Farm. The original 9 holes were used primarily on Saturdays, with greens mowed in the morning and the rest of the course maintained in a natural state, possibly used for grazing.

The Golf Club, founded in 1894 and originally located at Breakback until 1903, moved to Slideslow Farm before returning to Breakback and ultimately closing in 1918, with the Slideslow course measuring 2537 yards and Breakback 2434 yards. The early golfers, including 800 men and 20 women members, engaged in matches with neighboring clubs such as Moseley and Kidderminster, and had their first competition against Blackwell Club in 1896.

Following the purchase of Slideslow Farm by the Morris family in 1956, the land served agricultural purposes until 1987 when diversification into a golf course was planned after an unsuccessful attempt in 1979. Bromsgrove Golf Centre was established in 1989 with a 41-bay floodlit range, with subsequent plans for a 9-hole course and a short Par 3 course, the latter being shelved pending expansion possibilities.

The success of the 9-hole course, which opened in 1992, led to the establishment of Bromsgrove Golf Club in 1993, which was jointly managed by the members. Architects Hawtree & Son were commissioned to design the course, with Beveridge Plant Hire responsible for its construction, leading to the opening of an additional 9 holes in 1996 to complete the 18-hole course.

Visitors are welcome at Bromsgrove Golf Centre. Current green fees are £35 on weekdays and £40 on weekends. Please contact the golf club directly or visit their website to book tee times.
