Buncrana Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Donegal. The club was first formed in 1890.
The Buncrana Golf Course was established in 1890 and was originally known as Buncrana Municipal Golf Club, becoming the property of the Buncrana Urban District Council in 1944. Although the exact year of the course's inception is unknown, historical accounts suggest golf was first played there in the early 1800s, positioning it as the oldest 9-hole links golf course in Ireland.
Key developments include the voluntary construction of a new clubhouse by members in the 1970s and extensive clubhouse renovations initiated in the late 1990s, which were completed in September 2000. In 2010, the course was enhanced with the addition of two new holes, maintaining its 9-hole layout but increasing the total par from 62 to 66, thus extending the course length.
The golf course is based on a community model, offering affordable access and catering to golfers of all skill levels, including Special Olympic Gold Medal Winner Oliver Doherty.
