Bungay & Waveney Valley Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Suffolk. The club was first formed in 1889.
The Bungay & Waveney Valley Golf Course was established in 1889 when permission was granted to use Outney Common for golf, leading to the formation of a golf club called “The Waveney Valley Golf Club.” Initially a 9-hole course designed by Willie Fernie, James Braid was hired to expand the course to 18 holes, a development that included keeping nine of the original greens and adding nine more.
Golf at Bungay temporarily ceased due to World War I, but was revived in 1919 with a structured club reformation. The current 18-hole course is characterized as heathland terrain with features such as ravines that enhance the complexity of the game, making it a challenging and enduring layout since its conception by Braid.
Visitors are welcome to play at Bungay & Waveney Valley. Twilight rates are available after 3pm. Junior rates apply when playing with a member.
