About: Castlewarden Golf Club

Castlewarden Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Kildare.

The golf course was established in 1990, designed by the professional and course designer Tommy Halpin. Initially, all of the greens were developed from indigenous turf to expedite the course's opening.

In 1993, the course underwent a redesign by Bobby Browne, adding two new holes and marking the beginning of the transition to sand-based greens. Subsequent to Browne's work, Tom Craddock, a highly regarded course architect, made further design recommendations in 1995 that heavily influenced the course's current layout.

Over the past two decades, the planting of several thousand trees has significantly altered the course's appearance, introducing both native and exotic species. Presently, members enjoy a 6704 yards, par 72 golf course that meets Championship standards.
