Chiltern Forest Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Buckinghamshire.
Chiltern Forest Golf Club, which is over 100 years old, is located by Wendover Woods on the north edge of the Chiltern Hills. The land was initially owned by the Rothschild banking dynasty and later became part of a military training camp during the First World War and subsequently RAF Halton.
Sir Henry Cotton, a famous golf professional, contributed to the development of the course while stationed at RAF Halton during the Second World War by extending it to nine holes. The course was opened up to civilian players in the 1950s, and as their numbers increased, they formed their own club at the course, erecting a wooden hut as the first clubhouse beside what is now the first tee.
The Chiltern Forest Golf Club became a members’ club after acquiring the course from the Ministry of Defence. A new clubhouse replaced the original hut in 1977 and was extended in 1998 to enhance facilities for members and guests.
Land purchased from the Forestry Commission during the 1980s and 1990s facilitated the gradual expansion to more holes—specifically where the current 3rd, 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th holes are situated. The course achieved its current 18-hole layout in 1992 after further extension, thanks to land donated by Mr. Wren Stewart, a neighboring farmer and former Club President.
The golf course's continuous improvement is overseen by Head Green Keeper Steve Horwood. In 2013, Chiltern Forest Golf Club's clubhouse bar, restaurant, and pro-shop areas were refurbished to accommodate members, visitors, and guests.
