Chipping Sodbury Golf Club

The golf course at Chipping Sodbury was first established in 1905 when a 9-hole course on the Stub Riding was mapped out by Mr. Wardale, a professional from Rodway Hill, who utilized natural hazards and marked out a course that could be extended to 18 holes. The course was closed during World War I and underwent a series of transformations, with the original site being abandoned post-World War II for a new course on Sodbury Common in 1954, and in 1971, the club opened the first 18-hole course on Mead Riding.

Major enhancements, including the introduction of lakes and mounds, were made to the course in the 1990s under the direction of Captain Pete Lewis, Chairman Ken Douglas, and Clive Pearce. This new course, designed by Hawtree & Taylor, was officially opened by His Grace the Duke of Beaufort in 1971, and subsequent improvements have included tree planting and drainage efforts, leading to the completion of a substantial clubhouse in 1976.

Summer green fees are from 1st April to 30th September. Winter green fees are from 1st October to 31st March. Twilight golf is available after 16:00 and is subject to tee time availability.
