Chorley Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Lancashire. The club was first formed in 1897.
The golf course at Chorley Golf Club Ltd was established in 1897 at Hall o'th' Hill and initially designed as a nine-hole course. It gained popularity among professionals, and additional grounds in the vicinity allowed for the expansion to an 18-hole course.
Following land acquisition, golf course architect J A Steer was commissioned to design the full 18-hole course, which was opened in June 1926 after delays caused by the General Strike. His design featured two loops with starting points at the first and tenth holes, and both the ninth and eighteenth greens situated near the clubhouse.
During World War II, the golf course membership included 84 men and 42 ladies and made concessions for members serving in the forces. The fairways had to be altered to prevent enemy aircraft landings, but the course was fully restored to 18 holes by July after the war.
By 1951, the Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs had rated the course with a Standard Scratch Score of 72, and by 1960, the membership had grown to 128 men and 73 ladies. The course saw continued improvements in safety and infrastructure throughout the 1960s and beyond.
In the 1970s, despite a waiting list of 30 members, the clubhouse underwent renovations to improve facilities, reflecting the club's commitment to balancing golf and social activities. A new extension to the clubhouse was completed in 1989, marking a modern era for the club, along with continuous improvement in its services and amenities for members.
Further developments in the 2000s included a new irrigation and drainage system, another clubhouse extension, and the addition of a lower-floor bar in 2018 to enhance the social amenities. This also complemented the professional shop's expansion, incorporating a swing room with contemporary technology for indoor tuition and practice.
