Clitheroe Golf Club

Clitheroe Golf Club was established in 1891 and moved to its current site in 1932, where a full 18-hole course was constructed along with a clubhouse, thanks to the Southworth family. The course, designed by James Braid, is styled as a parkland course and located within the Ribble Valley, which is part of the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The course is known for its challenge to golfers of all skill levels, emphasizing the need for precise driving while offering relatively level terrain that is not too demanding physically. Notable moments in the course's history include a 1937 exhibition match with Ryder Cup captain Walter Hagan and the opening of two new holes in 1965, presided over by three Walker Cup captains—Joe Carr, Michael Bonallack, and David Marsh.

Clitheroe Golf Club has been a host for various championships and events, such as County Championships, The Open regional qualifying rounds, and tournaments for seniors, ladies, and juniors. The course is also known for its views, offering sights of Longridge Fells and Waddington Fell, with Stonyhurst College and Mitton Church in the background.

The club includes features such as the Southworth Room, a conference room with a collection of artefacts and a history of the club, and the Performance Golf Academy, which comprises a 10-bay driving range and other practice facilities. These additions reinforce Clitheroe Golf Club's reputation as a premier golf destination in the North of England.
