Comrie Golf Club

The golf course at Comrie Golf Club, known as Laggan Braes, was established following a meeting in March 1891 by the gentlemen of Comrie and is situated a short walk from the center of the village. James Braid, a notable golf course designer, was commissioned in the 1920s to recommend changes to the course, and these proposed changes have been largely retained to the present day.

In the early 1960s, Comrie Golf Club purchased the land for the course from Sir David Baird of Tomperran for £750, as announced at the club's AGM in October 1962. Subsequent infrastructure improvements include the installation of a new water supply and the construction of the current approach road, further enhancing the course's facilities.

The first clubhouse was opened in 1902 and then extended in 1982, with a modern replacement constructed and opened in 2003 due to collaborative efforts from the local community and club members. The golf course has undergone progressive investment, including the acquisition of modern machinery and the addition of a maintenance shed in 2010 to ensure its upkeep.

Notable features of Comrie Golf Club's course include its challenging topography and the historically significant path hole that cuts through bracken, still in use today by walkers to the right of the current 6th hole. The course is one of the few in the area to be owned by the club, marking a significant milestone in its history.
