County Armagh Golf Club

The County Armagh Golf course was established in 1893, originally as part of the Armagh Archery and Lawn Tennis Club and granted land by George de la Prev. Beresford in the Demesne. It transitioned from a 9-hole to an 18-hole course after acquiring additional land in the Demesne in the late 1950s, eventually securing a 40-year lease with assistance from Archdeacon the Rev JRM Crooks.

Don Patterson and Alan Smith designed the course, which was constructed by JG Duff and Co. and opened on May 3, 1975. The course features an 18-hole layout, 6,043 yards in length, par 70, SS69, with a variety of tree-lined fairways, bunkers, and greens complemented by floral displays.

Physical developments have included major alterations to the second and 18th holes, as well as improvements to the greens and tees, contributing to the evolving character of the course. Notable infrastructure includes a granite plinth marking the landing spot of the first drive on the new 18-hole course.

The golf course has hosted many Provincial and National Championships since its inception, with the ability to challenge golfers of all levels through its diverse hole layouts. The course celebrated its centenary in 1993 and marked 40 years as an 18-hole course in 2015.
