Datchet Golf Club

Established in 1890, Datchet Golf Club is located on Datchet Mead with a history of golf being played on the site before the club's official formation. The course has ties to Eton College, with many of the club's founding members being associated with the institution.

Percy de Paravicini, a notable all-round sportsman and a founder member of the club, served as captain from 1899 to 1900. RH de Montmorency, another distinguished member, was club president from 1921 to 1929 and was known for his exceptional amateur golfing skills.

Over the years, Datchet Golf Club has attracted several prominent figures, including England cricket legend George 'Gubby' Allen, composer Reginald Armitage, and actor Donald Pleasence. The course even hosted Bing Crosby and Bob Hope in 1950 when they sought refuge from overwhelming crowds at another match venue.

Notably, King Edward VII, when he was Prince of Wales, played on the course with two caddies to assist him due to his health. Later in its history, Datchet Golf Club also saw royal patronage from Prince Albert of Schleswig-Holstein and Prince Leopold of Battenburg, who were active club members until the First World War.

Visitors can play 18 holes for £25 on weekdays and £30 on weekends. Guest rates are also available, with 18 holes costing £14 on weekdays and £16 on weekends.
