Delgany Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Wicklow. The club was first formed in 1908.
Delgany Golf Club was established in 1908 by members from Greystones G.C. and is located in County Wicklow. Its first competition took place over nine holes on Good Friday in 1908, and by the end of that year, the first 18-hole competition was held.
The course is known for its hill and sea views, incorporating the landscape into its design. It became affiliated with the Golfing Union of Ireland in the same founding year.
Notable for hosting a match between Harry Vardon and Michael Moran in 1909, Delgany Golf Club's original layout was adjusted based on Vardon's recommendations. These changes aimed to enhance the greens and bunkers, among other aspects of the course.
In 2004, after an investment of nearly €1.5 million, the golf course was reopened with sand-based greens and tees meeting USGA specifications. Patrick Merrigan, a renowned Irish golf course architect, carried out the redesign, aiming to integrate new structures seamlessly with the original landscape.
April 2007 marked the historic reopening of Delgany Golf Club's clubhouse after redevelopment. The event included attendance by dignitaries from the Golfing Union of Ireland and highlighted the culmination of extensive course and clubhouse projects since 2000, representing an investment of over €5.5 million by the club.
Delgany Golf Club has a significant connection to the Ryder Cup, being one of only two clubs globally to produce four Ryder Cup players: Harry Bradshaw, Jimmy Martin, John O’Leary, and Eamonn Darcy. This legacy persists, with Darren Reynolds, a Delgany member, caddying for Paul McGinley in the 2006 Ryder Cup.
Green fees vary depending on the season. Summer rates (April 1st to September 30th) are higher than winter rates (October 1st to March 31st).
Group rates are available for a minimum of 10 players, and prices vary depending on the size of the group and whether dinner is included. Contact the Pro-Shop to book a tee time.
