Dinas Powis Golf Club

The Dinas Powis Golf Course was established on 2nd May 1914 on 38 acres of land, previously part of Highwalls Farm within the Cwrt-yr-Ala estate. The transformation of the farmland into a nine-hole golf course was led by a steering committee who organized the club's founding members and managed the conversion process.

Willie Park Jr., a two-time Open Champion, was consulted for the design of the course, providing his expertise for a fee and travel expenses. Professional/Groundsman Harry Prosser from Barry played a significant role in laying out the course, which officially opened for play just three months after taking possession of the land.

In addition to the establishment of the course, the initial years were marked by debates on allowing Sunday golf, which was eventually permitted by a significant majority vote. Financial considerations included purchasing maintenance equipment and hiring a professional, with costs carefully documented by the committee.

Subsequent events in the course's history include its adaptation for agricultural uses during both World Wars and the expansion to eighteen holes in 1921 with the assistance of Open Champion James Braid. The course's legacy endured over the years, with ongoing stewardship by the club members.

Visitor rates are available until the end of October 2025. Weekday visitor rates are £30.00 and weekend visitor rates are £35.00. Visitors with County Cards and Members Guests can play for £25.00.
