Doneraile Golf Club

Doneraile Golf Club was established in its current location in 1927, having been previously located within Doneraile Estate, with records dating back to April 1912. The move was a short distance across the road, and the first officers included Captain S. R. Lysaght as Captain, Viscount Doneraile as President, and Alexander Mitchell as Secretary/Treasurer, with an original green fee of 2 shillings.

Notable in its history, the location of Doneraile Golf Club's first fairway was the finishing point of the first steeplechase, a race initiated in 1752 with a wager between huntsmen Edmund Blake and Cornelius O’Callaghan. This historical race ran for four miles between the steeples of two churches, concluding near the present-day golf course.
