Dunbar Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Lothians. The club was first formed in 1856.
Dunbar Golf Club has occupied the east links since 1856; golf has been played here for over 400 years. The Cookie Jar Golf Podcast (Ep. 132, May 2022) called it "a hugely overlooked" course. The layout has an unusual history: "They had 14 holes and that was a deer park on that side, and then they got the land off the deer park and added one, two, three, and eighteen as we played them today. That's why it does feel not out of sync, but it's not the same as" the original stretch – a mix that gives Dunbar its character.
The clubhouse also left a mark: "I love Dunbar's clubhouse because it's like your nan's front room almost" (Ep. 153). James Braid, JH Taylor and Harry Vardon have all played here; more recently Vijay Singh, Steve Elkington and Sergio Garcia have featured in championships and exhibition matches. The east links provide a classic links test with commanding views of the North Sea.
