Dungarvan Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Waterford. The club was first formed in 1924.
Dungarvan Golf Club was initially set up in the early 1920s when a nine-hole links was created on the Cunnigar, with affiliation to the Golfing Union of Ireland occurring in 1924. Due to issues with coastal erosion and the inaccessibility of the Cunnigar, the course was moved to Clonea in 1929 next to the Ocean View Hotel, which was the setting for golf until the lease was not renewed in 1936.
The club then moved to a portion of the Stephenson estate in Ballinacourty, where a new nine-hole course was opened in 1939, with the wartime transportation challenges resulting in members resorting to various means to reach the location. The club remained here for fifty years, developing facilities including a clubhouse, and securing land ownership in 1970, which included utilizing an adjacent former national school building for storage.
In response to a growing population and a member-driven desire for additional capacity, the club relocated to a site nearer to Dungarvan town in the late 1980s, establishing the current 18-hole course, club house, and professional's shop. This move was finalized in 1993, whereupon the old course at Ballinacourty was purchased by an entrepreneur who developed it into today's Gold Coast Golf Club.
The Dungarvan Golf Club's current course is a challenging 18-hole layout, which was acknowledged as part of Golf Digest's 'Top 100 Irish Courses' in 2007. The club hosts various competitions, maintains an active juvenile section, and attracts numerous golfing societies, offering an array of amenities alongside a fully stocked Professional’s Shop managed by PGA Professional David Hayes.
