About: East Herts Golf Club

East Herts Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Hertfordshire. The club was first formed in 1899.

East Herts Golf Club was established at Lime Kiln Farm, Ware on 9 November 1899 by Albert Sandeman and Basil Richardson, with the original course designed by five-time Open Championship winner J H Taylor. The course was expanded and redesigned in 1920 by another five-time Open champion, James Braid.

The golf club moved to its current location at Hamels Park in 1974 after having to vacate Chadwell Springs; the new course design at Hamels Park was the collective effort of John Bennett, Jack Watts, and Club Professional David Lewis. Notable historical references to the location include mentions of Hamels Park in the Doomsday Book and the original Mansion built in 1580.

Green fees are valid until 31st October 2025. Visitors can enquire 7 days in advance Monday to Thursday and 48 hours in advance Friday to Sunday and Bank Holidays by calling 01920 821978 and selecting option 2.
