About: Farnham Golf Club

Farnham Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Surrey. The club was first formed in 1923.

Farnham Golf Club's course was established in 1896 on Binton Farm, under the name 'Binton Links,' it originally featured nine holes. The course was expanded to 18 holes by 1904, with the involvement of Open champion Jack White in the layout.

Following significant disruptions due to World War I, the club and course were dissolved, but by 1922 a nine-hole course was operational, and in 1923, Farnham Golf Club was reestablished with an 18-hole course ready within a year. The redesigned course is reportedly more challenging than its predecessor.

World War II resulted in parts of the course being repurposed for agriculture, but it reopened in 1953, commemorated by an exhibition match featuring players such as Peter Alliss and Bobby Locke. Noteworthy is the land purchase in 1968 by the club, securing its future.

Notable golfers associated with Farnham Golf Club include Elizabeth Price, who contributed to Great Britain and Ireland's Curtis Cup victory in 1952, and Roger Revell with his accolades in the 1970s. The course itself sustained damage during the great storm of 1987 but has since recovered.
