About: Formby Ladies Golf Club

Formby Ladies Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Lancashire. The club was first formed in 1896.

The Formby Ladies Golf Club was established on New Year's Day 1896, originally as a nine-hole course and a separate entity from Formby Golf Club, with its own small clubhouse. Miss M. I. Bushby notably scored 72+5=77 on the 18th of November 1885, evidence of women's active participation in the sport from the early days of the club's history.

By 1908, the course had expanded to an 18-hole links, following correspondence and arrangements between Formby Ladies Golf Club and Formby Golf Club. This expansion was facilitated by the exchange of services and financial agreements, including an annual rent and the creation of "associate" memberships for fundraising purposes.

During the mid-1920s, Formby Ladies Golf Club gained autonomy in the maintenance and development of their course by employing their own green staff. Throughout its history, the golf course has hosted numerous important golf competitions at County, National, and International levels.
