Fraserburgh Golf Club

Established on 14th April 1777, Fraserburgh Golf Club is recognized as the 5th oldest in Scotland and the 7th oldest in the world according to the British Golf Museum, operating under its original name since inception. The golf course began as a nine-hole course on Fraserburgh Links but moved to its current location at Philorth Links in 1891 due to issues with congestion and public safety.

In 1922, the golf course underwent a significant redesign by five-time Open Champion James Braid, aspects of which remain to this day. Further modifications were made in the late 1950s, and in 1976 under the guidance of Alex Swan with input from three-time Open Champion Sir Henry Cotton, leading to the course layout predominantly occupying one side of the B9033.

Additional land was purchased from Lady Saltoun in 1994, resulting in the creation of the Rosehill Course, which opened in 1996 with nine holes, including the five new ones designed with input from Jack Pressley. The club's historical records were lost in a devastating fire in March 2004, leading to intensive research to replace the documentation.

Notably, the Fraserburgh Golf Club's CorbieHill Links 13th hole inspired Kyle Franz's design of the 9th hole at the Rio Olympic course. Today, the course is not just a historical landmark but also influences modern golf course design.
