Ganton Golf Club

Ganton Golf Course was established in the summer of 1891, initially laid out by Tom Chisholm with assistance from Robert Bird. The course is situated on land that was part of the Ganton Estate and features a natural sandy subsoil, well-suited for golf course development.

Located eleven miles from Scarborough and influenced by the proximity of the North Eastern Railway Line, Ganton's accessible location contributed to its membership base. The course has undergone various redesigns by noted golf architects including Harry Vardon, Ted Ray, James Braid, J.H. Taylor, Harry Colt, Dr. Alister McKenzie, Tom Simpson, and C.K. Cotton.

Notable for hosting several significant matches and championships, Ganton's golfing heritage was elevated with events such as the Ryder Cup in 1949 and the Walker Cup in 2003. The course has also hosted the Curtis Cup in 2000 and multiple Amateur Championships, with Ganton being the only inland course to have done so.

Ganton's design includes distinctive features such as deep bunkers, thick rough, and gorse plantings that contribute to the course's challenge. It is recognized as one of the finest inland links courses and has been a venue for both amateur and professional tournaments for men and women.

Visitors are welcome at Ganton Golf Club, with tee times available on weekdays and weekends. Booking in advance is recommended and can be done by calling the Secretary's Office or online.

International Green Fees are £250 from April 1st, 2025 to October 12th, 2025. Twilight golf is available from 4:00 PM for £120.00. County Card rates are available after 1:30 PM for £160.00.

From October 13th, 2025 to March 31st, 2026, the round rate is £140.00, except for December 1st, 2025 to February 28th, 2026, when it is £110.00. All round rates are for GB&I Golf Union Members with a WHS
