Ghyll Golf Club

The Ghyll Golf Course was established in 1908 following an October 1907 meeting of eleven men in Earby, including a physician and several cotton manufacturers. They agreed on a nine-hole design, five shilling entrance fee, and annual subscriptions of one and a half guineas for gentleman and one guinea for ladies.

The course was initially laid out on land from Thornton Hall Farm, with an annual rent of £25 and advisement from a St Anne's professional golfer, before being officially opened by president Joseph Carr in May 1908. Throughout its history, the course experienced significant changes, including the loss and addition of holes due to financial restraints and land acquisition issues.

In the mid-20th century, the golf course saw developments such as new tree plantation to alter the play and the introduction of bunkers in the 1960s. Notable modifications also included the extension of the course into the 1980s, as well as the consideration and subsequent abandonment of an 18-hole expansion plan in 1991.

Following this, the course expanded into Lancashire with two additional holes, forming the current commonly used "Tudor Course." Ghyll Golf Course is characterized by elements such as the historic narrow wooded ravine from which it takes its name, and exists near Barnoldswick on the Lancashire-Yorkshire border.

Visitor green fees are £30.00 for 18 holes. If playing with a member, the visitor rate is £25.00 for 18 holes. The cost for 9 holes is £15.
