Hamilton Golf Club

The Hamilton Golf Club was founded in 1892, originally sited on the Barniehall Field near Hamilton Racecourse, before mining-related subsidence led to a relocation to Riccarton within the Duke of Hamilton's grounds. The original course layout, designed by esteemed course architect James Braid in 1925, has remained largely unaltered with only minor modifications lengthening it by nearly 300 yards.

Ownership of the course land transitioned from a lease to an outright purchase in 1978 after a series of protracted negotiations with the Duke’s estate. The present clubhouse, established in conjunction with the course's move to Riccarton, underwent substantial renovations and expansion by 1975, with the new facilities inaugurated by the Duchess of Hamilton during the club's 50th anniversary at that location.

Hamilton Golf Course is noted for having hosted a number of significant tournaments, such as the International Childrens’ Games in 2011, Ladies Home Internationals, and the British Blind Open, reinforcing its status within the Lanarkshire region. Club professional Derek Wright offers lessons and tuition at the course, which is situated at Carlisle Road, Ferniegair, Hamilton, ML3 7UE.

Weekday green fees are £60. Weekend green fees are £67.
