Harpenden Common Golf Club

Harpenden Common Golf Club was established in 1931, with its inaugural match featuring W.A. Peters and renowned former Ryder Cup player, Abe Mitchell. The course consists of 18 holes, with 11 positioned within the Common part, characterized by a woodland setting with mature trees, gorse, and heather.

The "new" section of the course, known as the Jockey Field with 7 holes, was opened in 1996 and has since matured with tree-lined fairways. Accomplished golfer and media personality Ken Brown, an honorary member of HCGC, oversaw a major revision of the entire course during this time.

Continuous financial investments by the Club led to the construction of new changing rooms, an administrative block, and the replacement of an old clubhouse with a new two-story structure completed in 2013. The updated facilities replaced a less substantial clubhouse originally photographed in 1932.

Harpenden Common Golf Club, situated in a designated area of natural beauty in Hertfordshire, has earned numerous accolades and is recognized as one of the top clubs in the region. The course offers a golfing experience that has evolved over more than 120 years to accommodate golfers of diverse ages and skill levels.
